Comparison of two code scalability tests
When a computer system is expensive to use or is not often available, one may want to tune software for it via analytical models that run on more common, less costly machines. In contrast, if the host system is readily available, the attraction of analytical models is far less. One instead employs the actual system, testing and tuning its software empirically. Two examples of code scalability t...
متن کاملHydrodynamic interaction in quasi-two-dimensional suspensions
Confinement between two parallel surfaces is found, theoretically and experimentally, to drastically affect the hydrodynamic interaction between colloid particles, changing the sign of the coupling, its decay with distance and its concentration dependence. In particular, we show that three-body effects do not modify the coupling at large distances as would be expected from hydrodynamic screening.
متن کاملTwo-dimensional Totalistic Code 52
The totalistic two-dimensional cellular automaton code 52 is capable of a wide variety of behavior. In this paper we look at its generic behavior, its complex behavior on simple backgrounds, its versatility in performing finite computations, and its block emulations of elementary cellular automata (ECA). In all, we found 65 ECA which are emulated by code 52. Taken together, the evidence is stro...
متن کاملComputer Simulation of Hydrodynamic Behavior of Aggregative Fluidized Beds
Hydrodynamic behavior of aggregative fluidized beds has been studied and a model proposed for the prediction of different characteristics of fluidized beds. According to this model, a computer program is prepared and the hydrodynamic behavior of some industrial units has been simulated.
متن کاملCode Museums as Functional Tests for Static Analyses
Growing your software guided by tests [2] has the benefit of thoroughly tested implementations of the right functionality. If you are developing static analyses your “test data” consist of code that has a few lines to a few classes. How can tests based on this “data” be kept expressive and maintainable? After exploring a variety of different other approaches we decided to embed the expectations...
